There’s a Lie that all drivers tell themselves, “Death is something that happens to OTHER peoples”
-James Hunt
After all, the innate nature of all Living things is to be unable to grasp the idea of Ending. Formula 1, is not a sport, it’s a more than just sport, it’s a religion that every driver accepts the moment he first feels the adrenaline rush of his own car. F1 had its biggest rising in the 70’s. With Niki Lauda, James Hunt Rivalry the Sport became a Battleground, at the end of which they were one of the best Racing Drivers a Child can think off. Niki Lauda Once said to a Driver, “You can be a Champion, It’s not about just being quick, you really need to believe it”. The Burning Rubber, the Amazing Straight with DRS On.
The wet Track is the fear of Every Driver, and in that fear, the Best Races Comes out. Actually it was their rivalry that made them legends. It’s a True saying a diamond can only cut another diamond.
Up to 90’s Racing was watched just because of Crashes, it was Ayrton Senna’s Death that made the World realize what they can lose in these moments of adrenaline rushes. The Brazilian Gem, was put to rest thanks to the lack of understanding of stupid F1 Engineers, and From that day onwards, the rules were mended to make the use of only top notch technology. Till day there has been not a single crash with a driver’s dead body being taken out of the car.
The Thing about Formula 1 is, it’s the breeding ground of only the Best of Car Equipment’s available in the world. If there were a metal available in a far planet which had extreme capabilities and potential, the world would spend millions to get that metal and trillions to use it in Formula 1 Cars exclusively. The Epitome of Car Engineering meets the Panache of Drivers to create an excellent blend of cocktail that only mature minds can fathom.
Today all the Electronic witchcrafts you can think or you can imagine happens only in Formula 1. I questioned myself once, why is not India, a great part of racing in Formula 1, the only answer that came in my head was, People are too afraid to die. They are afraid to die to experience cylinders of engine rudder for their life, they fear to believe a sack of rubbers on their wheels can make them fly, they are afraid to experience the adrenaline rush by going to 62mph in just 2 seconds. More Powerful than the fear of death is the will to win. The joy of a 10 year old watching his dad drive a box with just a wheel in his hand, is sufficient for him to leech to that idea. A popular saying, An Idea Resilient... highly contagious. Once an idea has taken hold of the brain it's almost impossible to eradicate. An idea that is fully formed - fully understood - that sticks; right in there somewhere. And it is that Idea, the Fearless joy of Racing that every Driver is Born with and Nurtures it till Death parts them from their Car. The Relationship of a Driver with Car is the Relationship that no other recreate.
At last I would like to quote Ayrton Senna -
Racing, competing, it's in my blood. It's part of me, it's part of my life; I have been doing it all my life and it stands out above everything ELSE.
